Saint Louis School of Pacdal, Inc.

About Us

It’s Humble Beginning

It was on June 10, 1969, when Saint Louis Pacdal was established by the mission council of the CICM fathers. This was headed by the bishop of the Vicariate of Montañosa, the late Msgr. William Brasseur, popularly known as “The Voice of the Mountain” through the insistence of a young energetic and ambitious priest, Fr. Pedro Rulloda. He was then parish priest of Saint Joseph the Worker church. Feeling the need for a catholic school in the community, the enthusiastic father braved all the trials and difficulties in seeking the funds to get the school founded and started.

His first sacrificial move was converting his rectory which was then located at the right side of the church, into two classrooms – hall – laboratory, and office rolled into one to make way for 21 boys and 22 girls who were much eager and anxious to experience what Catholic Education is all about. These young boys and girls were later considered “The Pioneers” of the institution.

The first principal was Ms. Adelina Gavina, while the lone teacher was Mrs. Lualhati Roxas-Alviar. Two months later, on August 22, 1969, the school was blessed by Fr. John Pardou, who later on became one of the institution’s school rectors.

The following years marked the opening of the second-year level with 45 students, including transferees from surrounding schools of Baguio City. Every year then one level was added until a complete secondary course was offered. Fr. Rulloda managed to construct additional classrooms and provided the necessary facilities and supplies needed.

In 1973, the second floor of the first building was completed, together with the restrooms of the students. Included in the development plan were the cementing of school grounds and the building of the Grotto of our Lady which still stands today. The same year marked the passage of the first High School graduates of SLP, and the acquisition of the recognition status of the school from the Department of Education, Culture and Sports on May 25.

On June 10, 1994, Saint Louis Pacdal celebrated its 25th anniversary as a pillar of education in the region of Cordillera. This occasion paved the way to the different commendations and citations given mention some: Saint Louis Pacdal was ranked No. 10 in academic excellence nationwide based on the Ateneo Statistic and Census Office; and hand in hand with this, is the awarding of the school’s status as No. 3 in Discipline and Values Formation. This and other awards further encouraged the men and women behind this institution to “sail on” at the same time “fan into flames” the gift of God for outstanding educational services.

The school owes its success, glory, and distinction through the unselfish effort and leadership of its past and present school director namely: The late Fr. Pedro Rulloda, the Founder and Master Builder; The late Fr. Pablo Filog, the founder of the kindergarten department; Fr. David Ganggangan; The late Fr. Marcos Molintas; Fr. John Pardou, Fr. Gaston Nollet, Fr. Eugene Van Ackere, the architect of the many improvements of the school which we see today. Repairing and improvements of the existing buildings as well as the restrooms and the construction of the three-story building which currently holds six classrooms. Fr. Vicente Castro, constructed two new buildings with six classrooms each and renovated the faculty room, and Fr. Manuel Castro – improved the restrooms and the grotto.

Through their administrative powers and educational sacrifices, due considerations are also given to its previous and current principals: Ms. Adelina Gavina, Sr. Theresina Estalilla, CFIC, Rex Rimorin, Mrs. Josefa Joven, Ms.Carmen Sayo, Mrs. Eufemia Bayquen, Mr. William Evasco, and Ms. Norma Taray the current principal as of this writing.

Behind these school directors and principals are of course the backbones of this institution, the ever-patient and persevering teachers of SLP, who come and go.

After years of struggle, Saint Louis High School Pacdal continues to shine as a prestigious institution and goes to answer the horn of challenges as it ventures into the jungle of education.
