History

SAINT LOUIS SCHOOL OF PACDAL, INC.  ITS HUMBLE BEGINNING

It was on May 15, 1969 when Saint Louis School of Pacdal, Inc. was established by the mission council of the CICM Fathers headed by the Bishop of the Vicariate of the Montañosa the late Msgr. William Brasseur, popularly known as “The Voice of the Mountains”. Feeling the need for a Catholic school in the community, Fr. Pedro Rulloda who was then the Parish Priest of Saint Joseph the Worker Church sought for funds to get the school founded and started on June 10,1969. His first sacrificial move was to convert his rectory into two classrooms, hall, laboratory, and office to make way for 21 boys and 22 girls, who were “The Pioneers” of the institution. The following years marked the opening of the second year level with 45 students, including transferees from surrounding schools of Baguio City.

On May 25, 1973, marked the first high school graduates of SLP and the acquisition of the recognition status of the school from the Ministry of Education Culture and Sports. In June 1994, Saint Louis School of Pacdal, Inc. celebrated its 25th anniversary as a pillar of education in the region of the Cordillera. Saint Louis School of Pacdal, Inc. was ranked No. 10 in academic excellence nationwide based on the Ateneo Statistics and Census Office; and hand and hand with this, awarded the school status No. 3 in Discipline in Values Formation. This and other awards further encouraged the men and women behind this institution to “sail on” at the same time “fan the flames” the gift of God for outstanding educational services.

The school owes its success, glory and distinction through the unselfish effort and leadership of its past and present school directors: Fr. Pedro Rulloda, Fr. Pablo Filog, Fr. David Ganggangan, Fr. Marcos Molitas,  Fr. John Pardou, Fr. Gaston Nollet, Fr. Eugene Van Ackere, Fr. Vicente Castro, Fr. Manuel Castro,  Fr. Jose Alipio , Fr. Felimon W. William, Fr. Roland P. Buyagan, Fr.Victor M. Munar who continued the beautification of the church and school, finishing of the new rectory, giving new ambiance to the park, cementing of school ground, transferring of the Grotto to pave way for the rehabilitation and ongoing projects for the improvement of the Church and School. Senior High School was also formally opened during his stay in August 2017 and to Fr. Benedict C. Castañeda who is currently the school director, who is working on the continuous improvement of the school: initiating the RF ID and putting up the main gate of the school.

Considerations are also given to its previous and current principals for their administrative powers and educational sacrifices: Ms Adelina Gavina who is the first principal, Sr. Theresina Estabillo, Mrs. Josepha Joven, Ms. Carmen Sayo, Fr. Pablo Filog, Mrs. Eufemia M. Bayquen, Mr. William Evasco, Ms. Norma Taray, Ms. Josepha P. Bitaga, Ms. Tarina T. Amangyen, Mr. Esteveron Rothel K. Wales, Mr. Jony P. Salda and currently Mrs. Melanie L Martinez.

Behind these school directors and principals are of course the backbones of this institution, the ever patient and persevering teachers of SLSPI, who come and go. After years of struggle, Saint Louis School of Pacdal, Inc. continues to shine as a prestigious institution and goes to answer the horn of challenges as it ventures into the path of education. Together with the other Diocese of Baguio – Schools, SLSPI continues to be the arm for Catholic evangelization to keep alive the hope that it will hold high its Vision- Mission of educating young minds committed to a life of faith, love for others and love for mother earth that is life transforming and disciple forming institution.

CHILD-CENTERED LEARNING FRAMEWORK

Saint Louis School of Pacdal, Inc., in its pursuit of Life transforming and Christ disciple forming educational communities adopts the CHILD CENTERED LEARNING FRAMEWORK.

The framework is composed of three (3) concentric circles. The outer circle outlines the pedagogical objective. The middle circle presents the 4 key principles of the child centered learning, and the inner circle pictures the end goal of the learning process.

To SUSTAIN A CHILD CENTERED LEARNING is the pedagogical objective of the SLSPI. The end goal is the transformed child. And the bridge between the pedagogical objective and the end goal are the FOUR KEY PRINCIPLES of a child centered learning. For the CCL to work, ALL four key principles must work together. This is not an all occurred approach. It is re-imagining education so it works for all learners.

Again, all these having worked together, lead to the realization of the vision: Life transforming and Christ-disciple forming educational communities resulting to a learner who is a transformed person centering his/her life into the personhood and message of Jesus Christ. He/she is one who possesses the core values of Saint Louis School of Pacdal, Inc., which are INTEGRITY, SERVANT-LEADERSHIP, CULTURAL SENSITIVITY, and EXCELLENCE.
